MTD
What is it and how can we help?
From April 2026 HMRC will expect sole traders and individuals with property income of £50,000 and more to submit quarterly figures via compatible software. This will then become applicable for those with a turnover of £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. In addition to these quarterly submissions you will still be expected to do an annual tax return as normal.
As you can imagine it is hard to comprehend the impact of this on both accountants and clients however with advances in technology we are able to mitigate some of the extra work to clients. Here at TWR we have put forward a plan to offer bespoke packages based on how much or little a client wishes to be involved in the process.
We are now in the process of talking to clients affected from April 2026 and offering software at a discounted price. Depending on the clients desire to be involved with the bookkeeping we can offer to take it fully off their hands, give training to allow them to do it themselves or give them the benefits of software while taking care of the submission for them i.e. the clients can use the software to raise sales invoices but we can handle the MTD submissions.
We understand that not all clients will be able or willing to use software but we have hopefully developed a plan to cater for everybody we are striving to make it as painless as possible.
